EXPLORATORY IMAGES

Exploring these ideas through portraits of friends, loved ones, colleagues and others. Some of the images are clearly a performance for the camera yet there are images with real truth. Often the moments of truth occur during the personal exchanges, in between taking the images. Capturing these moments can be a question of sheer luck. I’m particularly interested in children - at what age does self-awareness start? And do we start to worry less about our identity and others’ perceptions of us as we age? Is there a merging of our personas and real selves? Obviously we are multi-faceted and have many different personas throughout our lives. Which ones are the most persistent? We can all be part chameleon, part caricature, part blank canvas upon which to construct our personas.
